Hi! My name is Marisa Sánchez, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 15 years of experience in the mental health field. I hold both a master’s and a doctorate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of individuals and families at different stages of life.
My journey began by working with children on the autism spectrum, providing in-home behavioral therapy that focused on understanding each child’s unique needs and helping families create supportive routines. I later worked with at-risk youth in group-home settings, addressing attachment issues, anger management, and emotional regulation. These experiences taught me the importance of empathy, patience, and building trust.
After earning my intern number, I provided therapy to adolescents struggling with self-harm and suicidal thoughts, helping them find healthier ways to cope and rebuild hope. I then spent seven years in a community mental health agency’s crisis program, supporting individuals in some of their most vulnerable moments. Later, I transitioned to a hospital outpatient setting, working primarily with adults navigating complex emotional and behavioral health challenges.
For the past few years, I’ve had the pleasure of being part of MindShift, where I work with adults, children, couples, and families. I have extensive experience treating depression, anxiety, trauma, and attachment disorders, and I’m also trained in EMDR therapy, which can be highly effective for processing traumatic experiences. I especially enjoy working with families to strengthen communication, connection, and overall well-being. Helping parents find effective techniques to support their children and restore balance in the family unit is one of the most meaningful aspects of my work.
