EMDR is an evidence-based therapy approach that was developed in the late 1980s. It has been extensively researched and proven to be effective in treating a wide range of psychological conditions, particularly those related to trauma and distressing life experiences. EMDR incorporates elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and bilateral stimulation to help individuals process and resolve negative emotions associated with past events.

Desensitization

During an EMDR session, our trained therapists guide clients through a structured process that involves recalling distressing memories while simultaneously focusing on bilateral stimulation. This stimulation can be achieved through eye movements, sounds, or tactile sensations, which help activate the brain’s natural healing mechanisms. By engaging in this process, individuals can reprocess traumatic memories, change negative beliefs associated with the event, and develop more adaptive coping strategies.
